Varilux® Progressive Lenses
Most of what matters in our lives happens within arm’s length. We may switch from looking at our smartphone to talking with a co-worker, to working on a laptop, and then texting someone. The new Varilux® Progressive Lenses can really make a difference during these types of transitions.
A New Definition of Near Vision
It’s been shown that nine out of ten progressive lens wearers have the wrong solution for their needs. However, now you can personalize your lenses so that they adapt to you, instead of the other way around.
Every face is unique. That’s why your vision and the way your wear your glasses are different from anyone else. Lenses that are customized according to your physiology and your frames, will ensure you get the best vision possible.
The new Varilux® X series™ is Varilux®’s best progressive lens yet. The experts at Varilux® have reinvented near vision. These lenses allow you to capture very precise detail within arm’s reach and beyond.
Now you can enjoy outstanding sharpness with fluid transitions from near to far. The Varilux® X series™ is made possible through the breakthrough technology Xtend™, which extends your near vision like never before. You will experience a sensation of volume and depth of vision and will no longer have to move your head to focus.
55 Years of Innovation
Varilux® has been making progressive lenses since 1959. The Varilux® research and development team uses a unique program called LiveOptics®, which was established in 1993 to meet the specific needs of each wearer. It’s the only program of its kind and combines the latest optical research with the observation and testing of eyeglass wearers.
The program makes it possible to test all Varilux® lenses under real-life conditions, over several weeks, before they are offered to the general public.
These lenses were created by monitoring 2,742 eyeglass wearers around the world.
Multi-Tasking Satisfaction
Using the new lenses, 9 out of ten eyeglass wearers no longer feel the need to move their head to see sharp images both near and beyond.
The Varilux® X series™, featuring Xtend™ Technology, is the most advanced progressive lens available. Not only does it provide sharp vision and smooth transitions at any distance, but it also extends your vision within arm’s reach. You’ll no longer have to tilt or angle your head to find your focus.
Blue Light Protection
Harmful light can be either invisible UV rays or the visible blue-violet light. Blue light is emitted by several sources both indoors and outdoors, including our computer screens.
It is known that 30 percent of adults spend 9 or more hours on a digital device every day. The short-term effects of exposure to blue light include:
- Eyestrain
- Headaches
- Physical fatigue
- Mental fatigue
The long-term risks of exposure to UV and blue light include cataracts and age-related macular degeneration. These are the two leading causes of vision loss in adults over the age of 50. This is concerning given our aging population and increasing life expectancy.
Varilux® Offers Superior Protection
Your lenses must meet two criteria to reach the minimum level of protection. They must block at least 20 percent of harmful blue light and they must offer minimum UV protection of E-SPF 25.
The short-term benefits of Varilux® lenses are reduced digital eyestrain and overall well-being, which includes the regulation of your sleep/wake cycle and a better mood and cognitive performance.
Varilux® lenses provide long-term protection against the premature aging of the eyes (wrinkles) and eye diseases like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
Eyecode
Eyecode is a physiological measurement made by the Visioffice®. The Visioffice® system is a universal measuring system by Essilor. It allows opticians to obtain every possible factor needed for individualized lenses with great accuracy.
Visioffice® locates the eye rotation center, absolute reference point for lens calculation and lens fitting, all in three dimensions. With eyecode, each lens is recalculated and repositioned according to the real location of the individual wearer’s rotation center.
Types of Measurements Taken
The measurements taken by Visioffice® are as follows:
- Frame data, which is how the frame is positioned on your face
- Eye data measures the real center rotation of the eye
- Behaviour data measures the natural position of your head
